SUMMARY

Athens, 2013. Elena, a Romanian single mother, works the night shift cleaning metro stations. When she is unjustly fired, her dormant activist spirit reignites, and she joins forces with Yota, a charismatic lawyer, to take on her corrupt employers. Their fight for justice sparks romance but also a dangerous confrontation, forcing Elena to choose between justice and her deep need to belong.

REVIEWS

  • Elena’s Shift is a gentle film that moves with a brisk and confident pace. The story pulses with the traditions of social realist cinema, but Tsivopoulos’ film is gentler in its approach to the material.

  • the authentic vibe of the under-furnished homes and busy metropolitan streets is conveyed without any flashy moves or by forcing us to wallow in misery.
